The outcome to aim for

Global damage, class damage, class-versus-class matrices and skill-specific formulas multiply or override different stages. Changing all of them together makes the cause of a balance problem hard to identify.

Before you start

Read the complete procedure and its version notes. Record the affected server role and keep an untouched backup outside scanned data folders.

VISUAL WALKTHROUGH

One step at a time

  1. STEP 1

Fix test conditions first: same level, stats, equipment, buffs, pets and map. Record ordinary, critical, Excellent and combo results separately.

  2. STEP 2

Change GeneralDamageRatePvP/PvM only for a global goal. Use the class damage keys for a specific class and ComboDamageRate<attacker>To<defender> for combo-only changes.

  3. STEP 3

In the documented combo matrix, 100 is original combo damage, 50 halves it and 0 removes combo damage. It does not disable ordinary skill damage.

  4. STEP 4

Keep skill delays, mana/AG costs, range and anti-hack checks consistent. A delay setting is not automatically a success-rate percentage.

  5. STEP 5

Use /reload character or /reload skill for the edited group. Repeat tests in normal maps, duel and siege contexts because event damage scaling can differ.

Apply the real change

Use the load method stated in the steps for this system. Startup-only settings require a planned restart. The reload finder below shows recorded groups; confirm whether the particular field is startup-only.

Verify the result in game

If the expected result is missing, restore the backed-up files and repeat the same reload/restart before adding another change.
